Student Wellbeing

If a student needs first aid or becomes unwell during the day they will be sent to the office to be cared for. If they need to be taken home we will contact you, or nominated caregivers, by phone. If your child phones or texts you about an illness or injury please check with them that they have made the office aware of the issue.

Student Health Details

As part of the enrolment process, the school is to be made aware of any student medical needs including hearing, allergies, diagnosed conditions, special needs, disability or learning difficulties.

Guidance

Students and parents are encouraged to make use of the guidance network in the school to discuss the progress of their child or children, their interests and talents, and resolve problems. The Guidance Network involves all staff: Year Group Teachers take care of students’ pastoral needs and get to know them personally throughout the year. Students can approach their year group teacher or any staff member of their choice to discuss issues in confidence.

Subject Teachers are responsible for general subject progress and promoting the subject as an option through to senior level. Careers Advice is provided for students making the transition from school to work or further education. Careers information is available to all students and parents.

Counselling can be made available to all students through the services of a qualified counsellor. Students may self refer or be referred by their teacher or parent. Parents/whanau are welcome to discuss general matters with the Senior Leadership Team, Mr Bygate, Ms Tainui or Ms Lean.
