2018 Senior Uniform Years 7-12

All students who attend Akaroa Area School are to wear the correct uniform. Students may choose from all uniform options available. All items must be clearly named.

All items are available from most uniform suppliers including: Mainland Uniforms, The Warehouse, Direct Uniform Suppliers, and Ballantynes. Some stock also available at Ca Bouge, Akaroa and www.truefleece.co.nz a local family business sell jerseys.

Summer – Terms 1 and 4

Sunhat Plain navy bucket hat, compulsory in Terms 1 and 4
Shirt/blouse White short sleeve shirt/fitted blouse
Pullover Navy jersey or Merino V neck pullover
Skirt/
Shorts/Skort
Navy blue school two pleat skirt, shorts (button and fly type, no elastic) or skort (combined skirt and shorts)
Socks Navy blue short socks
Shoes/Sandals Substantial black shoes (not boots, sports shoes, skate-type shoes, ballet, slip on or canvas) or black sandals All footwear must be low heeled. Please note covered shoes must be worn in all specialist rooms.
Tie Red/Navy optional (only available through the school office)
School Dress Jacket   Years 11-13 Navy Jacket with embroidered school logo School responsibilities or representatives honours may be embroidered with school approval Available by order through the school office

Winter – Terms 2 and 3

Beanie (Optional) Plain navy beanie
Scarf (Optional) Plain navy or navy/red
Shirt/blouse White long or short sleeve shirt/fitted blouse
Pullover Navy jersey or Merino V neck pullover
Skirt Navy blue two pleat skirt.   Length to be no shorter than 5cm off the ground when kneeling
Trousers Black dress trousers
Shorts Navy blue school shorts (button and fly type, no elastic)
Socks/tights Navy blue socks with double red band at the top / Navy knee length socks or navy tights

Tie (optional) Red/Navy  (only available through the school office)
Jacket Navy or plain black jacket or parka

Physical Education Uniform

Shirt Red sports shirt with school logo. Can be purchased from school office ($30)
Shorts Navy shorts with logo. Can be purchased from school office ($30)
Socks White in terms 1 and 4, Rugby socks may be worn in terms 2 and 3.
Shoes Sports shoes (not skate-type shoes), preferably white-soled or non-marking
Togs Terms 1&4 Suitable swimming togs (not bikini or casual/PE shorts) Rash tops can be worn. Shoulder length hair to be worn under a cap or tied back.

Supplementary (all pupils)

Jewellery (with the exception of Year 13)
Jewellery is not permitted, except for a watch, one ear stud or keeper in each ear. Wearing a necklace may be permitted for religious or cultural reasons. Additional jewellery may be confiscated.

Make-up (with the exception of Year 13)
No make-up may be worn. This includes nail polish.

Hair
Hair must be neat, clean and tidy.

Names on Clothing
All items of clothing and equipment must be clearly named.

Sports Grounds
SHOES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES ON THE SPORTS FIELD FOR SAFETY. Students playing on the sports field in muddy conditions must change from their School shoes. They may also change from uniform to a suitable alternative.

Personal Property
Personal ghetto blasters and docks are not permitted at school or on school trips. Students who wish to listen to music at school or on trips may bring an MP3/iPod etc, which should be clearly named or identifiable.

Uniform
All students from Year 7 to Year 12 who attend Akaroa Area School are expected to wear the correct uniform on their way to and from school and during school hours.  The School reserves the right to take appropriate action against students who do not meet these uniform requirements.

Confectionery
For health reasons chewing gum, and confectionery may not be consumed during the school day. Water, milk and natural juices are the only drinks allowed during school hours.
