We have a wonderful resource onsite – the Akaroa Area School and Community Library at 2 Selwyn Ave, tel 03 304 1176.
The Library is a joint venture between Akaroa Area School and the Christchurch City Libraries. The Library is situated within the school grounds and shares the building with Cine Café- a boutique cinema complex which houses two state of the art cinemas and a café.
To apply for a library card, pop into the library or apply here Library cards are required by all students as part of our curriculum. To join the library you will need:
Identification: either your passport or two (2) other forms of ID, preferably one with a photo-ID. If a child is joining, it is the parent / legal guardian that requires the ID.
Proof of address (no more than 30 days old). This can be a letter from your bank, school, power or telephone company. Digital versions of these documents are also acceptable. If you do not have proof of address you can borrow 2 items. To continue your membership you must provide proof of address within 3 months. If a child is joining, it is the parent / legal guardian that requires the proof of address.
Guarantor: The name and contact details of someone who knows you (not a family member).
