Commissioner Visit and Governance Meeting

As you are aware, there will be a governance meeting tomorrow, Wednesday 1 July in room 20 from 1-3pm. Anyone interested in the workings of a Board of Trustees is welcome to attend all/part of the meeting. If you would like a copy of the agenda prior to the meeting please email botsecretary@akaroa.school.nz.

A student trustee is a full trustee and plays an important role on a Board of Trustees. Students from year 9 up are entitled to stand and vote in student election. When a Board is up and running, the normal term for a Student trustee is from September to the following September. We appreciate that tomorrow’ meeting may not suit students to attend so our next meeting will take place after school to enable any students/parents who can’t attend tomorrow to have an opportunity to understand school governance further.

Our Commissioner, Nicola Hornsey, will be in school tomorrow, following a period of 14 days self-isolation after attendance at an all-day meeting at the Commodore Hotel on 16 June 2020. She has had a test with a negative result and has been cleared to return to normal activities on 1 July by Healthline. She has asked me to convey this information to staff and parents so they are aware of the situation and can distance themselves should they choose.
