Skool Loop
We still need families to download our new phone app for parents. It will provide access to notices, permission slips and school bus information as well as being our way to contact parents in emergency situations. It also provides a handy link for phoning/emailing an absence. It’s very easy to add this app to your phone and the instructions are below.
Please make sure you download the app and keep the notifications activated or you may miss vital information or emergency notifications.
To download: go to google play or the app store and search for “Skool Loop”. Once you have done that please open the app on your phone and select Akaroa Area School.

Messy Church
What is “Messy Church”? What’s messy about it? This is what Akaroa is going to find out, beginning on Sunday October 6th.
The Combined Church has appointed a part-time Children and Families worker, Leanne Hall, who will run a monthly Messy Church event from 4pm to 6pm every first Sunday of the month in Trinity Hall.
Messy Church is a new informal family-friendly version of church, for adults and children together. It begins with activities for adults and children of all ages, continues with an informal celebration and teaching time, and finishes with everyone sitting down for a free evening meal together.
The emphasis is on informality – you don’t dress up, you don’t sing hymns, and you don’t have to ‘belong’ to a church to attend. It’s a fun way for families to finish Sunday together.
Likewise adults who prefer a more informal type of church service will find Messy Church well worth a visit. One reason for calling it “Messy Church” is that it is for anyone who may think their life is a bit of a mess – people who don’t have everything together!
The first Messy Church will be on Sunday October 6th, from 4pm – 6pm in Trinity Hall. Come and see! It’s free!
